James Hall, Spar’s wholesaler for the North of England, has launched a range of new bread products following the success of its six-day a week bread delivery success.
Since the delivery service was launched in 2012, bread sales at retail have reached £9m, with like-for-like sales up 10% over the past year.
To build on the success James Hall is launching a number of products, including Spar-branded 750g premium white and wholemeal loaves, and a 400g half loaf version of Clayton Park’s white and malted farmhouse bread range.
Also new to the range is a Luxury Double Chocolate and Orange Hot Cross Bun, priced at £1.70 for four with an introductory 40p off, and a new Fruit Loaf priced at £1.50.
The wholesaler has also started retail trials of an ambient bake off range, which includes a Parisien, a Half Baguette, a White Batard and a Petit Pain.
Peter Dodding, sales & marketing director, James Hall, said: “We are thrilled by how much our Spar retailers have shown confidence in our Clayton Park range since its launch two years ago, and what a brilliant reaction they are getting from their customers. It’s commitment like this that has helped firmly establish the brand.
“It’s because of this success that we’re extending our range with products including the Spar branded loaf – a product that offers great value, while delivering a very different quality proposition to any of the other own brands in market.
“These products bring a real point of difference to our retailers’ ranges, and I’m confident we’ll keep seeing success with our bread products,” he said.
