Blakemore Retail has announced a long-term supply contract with fuel brand Jet, which will see two UK Spar forecourt sites become dual brands.
The two sites, one in Buckley, Flintshire and the other in Newark, Nottinghamshire, joined the Jet network in April. Blakemore Retail opted to dual brand the sites, taking advantage of last year’s collaboration between Jet and Spar UK as part of Jet’s wider retail support programme.
Both sites have Spar-branded convenience stores. Buckley was previously supplied by BP and Newark by Gulf.
David Garside, area manager at Blakemore retail, said: “We see this as a great opportunity to test the water with a convenience brand we’re already familiar with, and a new fuel supplier. We want to determine the value of the Spar brand on the forecourt on sites which are heavily convenience led, but also have the backing of a trusted fuel brand. Jet is a reputable fuel supplier, offering strong security of supply and refinery product at both these sites, which was also a key factor in our decision.”
Graham Clout, group dealer manager at Jet, said: “The fact that they decided to dual brand both sites is testament to the benefits our partnership with Spar offers. It gives forecourt owners the flexibility to select the best option available to them to meet the needs of each individual site, rather than a ‘one size fits all’ retail solution.
“We recognise how important it is for forecourts to have a strong convenience offering and, through our partnership with Spar, we’re helping to turn Jet forecourts into convenience destinations and attract new customers. Both of these sites are immaculately maintained and will be a real credit to the Jet network. We’re confident they would already score highly in our own award-winning ‘Proud to be Jet’ services and standards programme.”
