Retailer charity Making A Difference – Locally (MADL) has donated £25,000 to Help for Heroes. The money will go towards funding recovery centres for wounded service men and women.
MADL was created by Nisa-Today’s and Costcutter in May 2008 to help independent retailers with raising money for their communities. There are now over 2,000 stores involved with the charity and it raised £1m in its first 12 months.
“Choosing which national charities to support through MADL has been an extremely difficult process as there are so many good causes all worthy of our help,” said MADL representative Angela Barber. “However, Help for Heroes is clearly a cause many people are passionate about right now and one that provides a real lifeline to our service men and women who deserve our support.”
Help for Heroes spokesman James MacKeddie thanked MADL for its generous donation: “Every penny raised makes a big difference to our heroes and will help us enormously to provide a lifeline to the future for so many.”
