Costcutter Supermarkets Group (CSG) is launching a new initiative to help its Costcutter, Kwiksave and Mace retailers support their local charities.
The new Local Pride initiative will provide retailers with the tools and support to raise money for their chosen local good causes.
In addition to a store fund-raising page, retailers will also be provided with a paying-in card provided by the programme administrators Charities Trust.
Monthly BACs payments will then be made to the chosen charities based on funds raised. Charities Trust will also claim Gift Aid on all eligible donations, providing 25p extra for every £1 raised.
Heather de Groot, charity brand manager for CSG, said: “Our store owners take great pride in being part of their local communities and have a tremendous track record in terms of supporting causes which are important to their customers and raising vital funds for local charities.
“We wanted to support their efforts by making the process as simple as possible and optimising every penny raised. Local Pride is the result of consultation with all our members who wanted to unite their teams, shoppers and community behind worthwhile local causes and give meaningful and regular donations.”
“Our members can support up to two good causes a year as long as it is a UK-based registered charity or not-for-profit organisation which operates in their local area.”
“Many are planning fund-raising events and campaigns as well as encouraging shopper donations. We have also recommended that our members donate the 5p carrier bag proceeds to their chosen cause,” she added.
Next year CSG plans to involve suppliers, securing their support with charitable promotions and merchandise.
