A retailer is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in an attempted robbery at his store.
Peter Eizens, 61, was in Sue’s Off Licence in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, on Monday (March 18) morning when an armed assailant entered and attempted to rob the store.
The robbery was interrupted when the retailer’s calls for help were heard by passers-by and three men intervened. The attacker escaped empty-handed, but Peter was stabbed multiple times and was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham for treatment. His condition was described by Derbyshite Police as “improving” and is expected to make a full recovery.
Derbyshire Police is currently appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.
