London based wholesaler Gold Star has launched a free delivery service for retailers within the M25.
The Today’s member wholesaler has invested £400,000 in IT, six new ambient vans, drivers and a field sales force which it hopes will help it to service more than 500 stores.
Retailers will not be charged for the service, which includes next day delivery, but will need to meet certain minimum order requirements.
Managing director Vijay Thanwani said the service would save retailers valuable time.
“Our customer response is overwhelming. They are pleased that this initiative now liberates them as independents to fully concentrate on their own businesses and customers and not on time lost on the busy roads and traffic jams. Our customers see this as a cost saver – a huge bonus,” he said.
Gold Star was established in 2011, after it acquired the former Premier Wholesale depot in Harrow London.
