McCoy’s is looking to deliver ‘full on flavour’ with the launch of McCoy’s Muchos; a new crescent-shaped folded tortilla crisp.
The product is made with corn, wheat and potato, a unique blend of six spices and beans, as well as Mexican seasoning. Available in three flavours: smoky chilli chicken; nacho cheese; and sour cream & onion, the new crisps will be available from the end of January in a 180g sharing bag format (rrp £1.99).
The smoky chilli chicken and nacho cheese variants will also be available to convenience stores and independents in a price-marked 80g grab bag from 17 March (£1 PMP).
McCoy’s Muchos is designed to tap into the growing popularity of the Mexican food trend, with Mexican now being one of the largest takeaway cuisines in the UK (Mintel 2017).
Claire Cooper, marketing manager for McCoy’s at KP Snacks, said: “McCoy’s is one of our most successful brands, driving growth within the KP Snacks portfolio and the wider category. Sharing is now the second largest area within crisps, nuts and snacks, and continues to grow. We are very excited to launch such a new and unique Mexican-themed product into this arena, a much-needed injection of fun, flavour and innovation for the tortilla market.”
The introduction of Muchos will be supported with a £4m investment, including above-the-line and in-store campaigns rolling out later this year.
