I made contact with Thames Valley PCC to talk about our retail crime solution and got a shrug off that they wont engage with or endorse any crime prevention products that a retailer is able to choose themselves. Quite a snub really so not suprised they are doing zero for retailers. I looked at the web link in the article and see that most of the PCC contacts are all blank. It's the wild west out there....protect yourself
What does the Telegraph know ahead of anyone else, is it sensationalism to try and shift some copies of a newspaper low on readers, or a planted story by the big four? Banning anything tends to drive usage underground which is not the right way to legislate.
Heres a thought...... A vape vending machine with the current AI digital age verification will solve the underage sales in that it simply wont sell to someone who appears under, let say the challenge 25 age. no excuses no questions. Unless it sees valid ID, e.g Yoti or another equivalent. It takes human error out of the equation. Same machine can also house a recycle bin for used disposable vapes and the media screen on the front can educate for correct disposal.
Products are not on show and the media screen/menu will only show the products if you meet the age criteria. The machine can be small for single brands units or large enough for multi brands. Units can be placed in shops and local areas and the technology available means they can be cashless and remotely managed via telemetry.
Its not science fiction, its here alreadyGreat to hear our systems are working well. Please get in touch if anyone wants to know more or get a proposal sent out.
This was predictable, however everyone went with what the tobacco companies said. Their replacements are confusing with the same name but zero menthol content and no customer demand. Now is the time for retailers to consider what is best for themselves in this category
Time to stick with your fast sellers and downsize to a secure and efficient smart tobacco gantry, make some space for Vape and make more money
Another great Navarra customer, we fitted our first UK low level smart tobacco gantry into this store, tobacco is safe, secure and easy to access and manage and Anil has the full back line available for spirits merchandised on a fantastic fixture, Well done
Glad to support this exciting new site for TYS Retail with another of our smart tobacco gantries. Siva is a forward thinking and entrepreneurial business owner as well as a loyal Navarra customer. We have another smart tobacco gantry going his other new development TYS St Neots at the end of the month.
Another train of thought is that smokers will simply buy the non menthol/dual/crush-ball versions of their favourite brand and buy strong mints or similar flavoured chewing gum. Tobacco sales will remain pretty much the same but the overall range you need to stock will be reduced by 25%
To stop tobacco theft, robberies and shrinkage which is a key driver of crime and the crime figures as traditional gantries offer little or no protection - fFt a smart tobacco gantry from Navarra Retail Systems
Smart tobacco gantries can speed up service times and prevent queueing and the dreaded dropped basket. Recent articles in this magazine covering the experience of Welcome Co Op's in Southampton using Navarra smart tobacco gantries have demonstrated this works.
What would be a 30 second search for cigarettes takes less than a second using a smart tobacco gantry linked to the EPOS till.It was a pleasure dealing with Karan and Dee Patel on this unique redevelopment. They now have a future-proof store with class leading technology and Navarra are pleased to be a part of that.
Fitting a Navarra Smart Tobacco Gantry will provide any store with the best security measures to protect their tobacco stock and maintain the ease of use and fast pick rate. We now offer additional security hasps for stores owners who want even greater protection. See us at stand L20 at the forthcoming National Convenience Show
Navarra Retail Systems will be at the National Convenience Show with our range of smart tobacco gantries for smart store owners. for more information please visit www.navarraretailsystems.co.uk
I can only agree with that, Navarra tobacco dispensers can and do save a store owner space, time and money. Extra space leads to more profitable items available on the back line, time saved in serving customers and also the stock control and admin is reduced, don't forget time is money especially on the minimum wage. The systems when used properly can more than pay for themselves on a weekly basis or pay back within 15 months
So it looks like the 10's and RYO under 30g packaging has already stopped ahead of the 20th May EUTPD deadline.
Is there any follow up to this story? Did Bina manage to end her contract with ITL? With the ETPD changes and plain packaging coming in May many retailers could be looking to remove what are likely to be oversized gantrys given the reduction in the range as 10's , flavours, price marked packs and RYO under 30g all goes and look at more efficient systems.
