Better communication, higher standards and chilled were the main topics at the first ever Londis retailer conference held at the Celtic Manor in Newport, South Wales, last week.
The conference, which was attended by more than 650 delegates, highlighted the company’s desire to get feedback from its retail members and increase the sharing of best practice across its entire estate.
Raj Chandegra, who runs four Londis stores in West London, said the conference had been very worthwhile. “It was great to get so many people under one roof at a fantastic venue and bring together retailers to share good ideas for the future. We looked at the progress of the company since the takeover, what’s been achieved and what we still need to do to keep progressing to get everyone at the same level.”
Terry Caton, who runs a Londis store in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, said: “For the first ever conference the set-up was excellent and the atmosphere extremely positive. I’d say the main themes were standards and how we can best progress our businesses, but we also discussed the role of cluster meetings and the ways in which they can help promote communication from the store floor to head office.”
Richard Hipkin, who runs the Londis store in Marks Tey, Essex, believes the group is now heading in the right direction: “The future was already good but the conference confirmed to me it’s very bright indeed.”
