Parfett & Sons have launched a new Go Local Extra store in Brighouse, Huddersfield.
Officially opened on 13 December, J&H Local is the 22nd Go Local Extra store to be opened since Parfetts launched the symbol group in July 2012, and the 125th Go Local store.
The store, which has been trebled in size to 2,600 sq ft, was re-opened by Jasdeep Singh, an independent retailer who also owns a store in Bradford.
The newly-refurbished store features a Post Office, National Lottery terminal, PayPoint, ATM, food to go, fresh fruit and vegetables, delicatessen and in-store bakery. There are also plans to introduce a delivery service for disabled and elderly customers.
Refurbishment work on the site took eight weeks and included the installation of a new roof, wiring and plumbing.
Jasdeep Singh said: “I would like to thank Parfetts for their hard work and all the people who have contributed to the re-fit of the store. Without these highly skilled tradesmen and retail experts, this would not have been possible and they have done a great job.”
He also thanked local suppliers, East & West Catering, Allan Atkins of AJ Pies and Pastries and Parfetts for supporting the re-opening.
Mayor of Calderdale Ann Martin was present for the grand re-opening and welcomed Jasdeep and his family to the area. “Over the past two months, local residents have seen a complete transformation of their local store due to the huge investment J&H Local has made,” she said. “This store will serve the community for many years to come and will create jobs and work for local firms and suppliers.”
