Nisa-Today's is recruiting a local sourcing manager. The new position will involve negotiating trading arrangements with individual regional suppliers to enable the group's retailers to trade more easily with local producers.
Nisa Central Distribution managing director John Sharpe said: "Demand for local food is a long-term customer trend and not just a passing phase. We have therefore decided to create a new role within Nisa. It will be this person's responsibility to quickly develop a network of local suppliers."
Nisa plans to outline ranges available to retailers online and invoice all goods through its central office.
The group has also extended the responsibilities of retail trading director for its ambient division, Steve Collins. Collins will now also lead all trading activity across Nisa-Today's 3,000 frozen and chilled and 9,000 ambient lines as well as group services, a team which negotiates deals on business services
