A group of Midlands-based Nisa retailers have managed to raise almost £40,000 for charity via a special fund-raising dinner.
The funds, donated to the children’s charity Make-A-Wish foundation, were raised by means of a raffle and auction held on the night of November 9, as well as combined funds from each participating retailers’ Making A Difference Locally (MADL) accounts.
The foundation grants magical wishes to children and young people who are fighting life-threatening conditions.
Participating stores included Jash Limited of Bromford Drive, Sanghas Supermarket of Church Street, Michaels Foodmarket of Hobs Moat Road, Sunner and Sons Michaels Supermarket of Coventry Road and Michaels Supermarket of Yardley.
Neil Jones from Make-A-Wish thanked all the retailers for their support. “Each year more and more children are turning to us to have their magical wish granted so Nisa’s and MADL’s support really is invaluable,” he said.
The event followed the success of three previous years with £30,000 donated to Midlands Air Ambulance last year, £27,000 donated to KIDS Charity in 2010 and £31,000 donated to Birmingham Children’s Hospital in 2009.
