Nisa is to introduce a three-hour time window service for its ambient deliveries.
Commencing January 2014, the new service will offer members fixed three-hour windows in which the delivery will be made, rather than the current system where retailers are informed by text the day before the delivery of a variable three-hour window.
This new system is designed to help retailers staff their stores more efficiently and bring Nisa’s ambient delivery service in line with its temperature-controlled delivery schedule. It is expected to cost Nisa up to £1.4m per annum.
Nisa also plans to introduce fixed driver routes to help improve driver knowledge and a detailed breakdown of the products on each pallet so retailers can identify the priority items immediately.
“There are many elements of the distribution process that are unpredictable, but there are those where we can continue to enhance our service offering and make a difference to our members and that is important in our mission to deliver benefits across all areas of the business,” said Jonathan Stowe, Nisa’s distribution director.
