Nisa-Today's could struggle to meet is own deadline for a vote on the proposed merger with Costcutter.
The group has committed to an extra-ordinary general meeting to vote on the deal in October. However, as C-Store went to press, the due diligence process was still continuing.
A spokeswoman for the group said that while both the financial and commercial due diligence was complete, there was still some detail to work out on the tax and legal side of the scheme, dubbed Project Tomorrow. She confirmed that it was still unclear as to how long this would take but that the circular with final proposals was scheduled to be issued in the autumn.
Nisa-Today's has promised a comprehensive information sharing process, including UK-wide roadshows to give members a chance to discuss the proposals with the Nisa-Today's board and representatives of Costcutter.
The issue is likely to be complicated further by Nisa-Today's four-day retail conference in Marbella, Spain, beginning October 14.
