Convenience stores are destinations for nearly one in five consumers who buy coffee on the go, according to new research.
A survey by One Poll, in collaboration with Nestlé Professional, found that 53% of respondents buy coffee to go, of which 19% regularly purchase from convenience stores.
Nearly one in three (30%) of coffee-to-go consumers buy from supermarkets, and 23% do so from forecourts.
Over half (53%) of coffee drinkers surveyed buy from machines, with quality (33%) and taste (30%) being the most important factors, the survey revealed.
In addition, 60% of respondents have eaten on the go, whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. One-third of 18-24 year olds use smart ordering – pre-ordering via a smartphone or tablet – when dining or drinking.
“For consumers, convenience comes first and we have come to expect our favourite food and drink anywhere, anytime, at the swipe of a screen or the touch of a button,” said Nestlé Professional brand manager Paul Lumley.
