The expansion of One Stop’s franchise scheme is continuing to pick up speed with two new stores having opened in Scunthorpe this month. They join two other company-owned One Stop stores already trading in the town.
There are now more than 10 franchise stores in operation, with recent launches having been concentrated in the Midlands, South West and Wales. “Many other stores” are currently going through One Stop’s transition process following “many hundreds of enquiries” from independent retailers, a spokeswoman told Convenience Store.
One of the new stores belongs to former Premier retailer Kal Binning, who opened his store in Ashby on 4 April. He was followed a week later by independent retailer Darren Cryne who unveiled his new-look store in Bottesford on 11 April.
Prior to the changeover, both stores donated their old stock to their local food bank.
To celebrate the openings both shops had a range of special offers available and will be holding official fun days in the near future, with a range of family activities, including visits from popular Scunthorpe United footballers.
