An East London Mace store is set to undergo a dramatic transformation thanks to Unilever’s Partners for Growth (PfG) retailer advisory panel, having won the firm’s 2012 mentoring competition.
After the panel had carried out a full assessment of the Victoria Dock-based store, Redhill retailer and PfG panellist Dean Holborn met with owner Sanmugalingam Pirapakaran (aka Perry) and supervisor Kartheepan Sriramamoorthy (aka Sri) earlier this month to discuss how the business could reach its full potential. They were also joined by Mace head of symbol Rory Brick and Unilever’s Tom Hazelden and Kimberley Green.
Dean urged Perry and Sri to embrace epos in order to tighten up their ranging. “It is time consuming initially, but you only have to set it up once and you will have access to much more accurate information.” He also advised them to halve their stock-holding in order to ease cash flow.
Perry was also awarded £1,500 from Unilever, which he plans to invest in store improvements.
C-Store will follow the store’s journey exclusively over the coming months.
