Evolution Foods, the dried fruit, nuts and seeds producer, has launched a snacking range made with 100% plastic-free packaging.
The paper packets have been introduced across 25 products sold under the producer’s natural selection snacking range.
The packaging is made from sustainable paper and uses a water-based coating, which is then heat-sealed to keep the products fresh. The packets can also be reycled in the same way as any other waste household paper.
James Knott, managing director at Evolution Foods, said: “The dried fruit, nuts and seeds sector has relied on plastic packaging for a long time, but we wanted to provide a better solution for the environment.
“Our natural selection paper packaging is a major breakthrough for us as it’s sustainable and easy to recycle at home, without compromising on quality. While there’s always more to do, this is an exciting moment for our industry, unlocking real potential to reduce plastic waste.”
Available to c-stores including Nisa and Co-op retailers, Evolution Foods’ natural selection range also includes snacking trays and shot packs which have been redeveloped to ensure that the packaging can be widely recycled.
