Ethical food brand MIA has created a Hemp & Almond chocolate bar made with 65% dark chocolate, roasted almonds and hemp seeds.
Wholly produced, crafted and packaged in Madagascar, 1% of all its sales are dedicated to development projects in Africa.
The new product (rrp £3.99) joins the brand’s other African creations – 100% Cocoa, 75% Dark Chocolate, 65% Coconut, 65% Almond & Coconut, 65% Hazelnut & Cranberry and 65% Candied Orange - and is available immediately in 75g packs in cases of 10.
Hemp is an on-trend superfood packed with essential fatty acids, protein, vitamins and minerals, which has been seeing strong interest in the food and drink industry.
MIA co-founder Sarah Lescrauwaet said: “The reaction from retailers and consumers to the MIA brand and the first six bars we launched has been tremendous and it’s clear that there is a real hunger in the UK for super premium food products that taste great but also do good. Hemp is definitely an ingredient going places in the food industry and works wonderfully alongside almonds and chocolate so we’re excited to see what people think.”
MIA, which stands for ‘Made In Africa’ and the brand works in collaboration with local communities, growers and craftspeople in Africa to discover the best ingredients and uses them to produce the finest tastes, textures and flavours.
