Dairy-free start-up Over the Moo is launching vegan, chocolate flavoured ice cream bites.
An on-the-go interpretation of its top-selling Australian tub flavour, ‘Choc Choc Who’s There,’ the new pouch launches on June 24 and has an RRP of £3.99. The frozen snack, which comprises eight bites of dark chocolate-coated ice cream, markets itself as a permissable treat, with one chunk equating to just 30 calories. The product is made using sustainably sourced coconuts from trusted Indonesian and Philippines sources to provide a rich, plant-based alternative to ice cream.
The new chocolate flavour joins the existing Caramel and Vanilla flavours, which are stocked in 200 delis, convenience stores, farm shops and garden centre estates.
In recent months, the firm has been working hard to help improve its products. “Significant moves include extended melting times in tandem with an altogether more decadent chocolate cracking that better reflects the indulgent qualities of the enrobing chocolate we favour,” said Over the Moo Uk founder Simon Goldman.
He added: “We’ve learnt stacks in our first year of trading. First and foremost, healthier snacking has been crying out for meaningful, on-the-go offerings within the wider ice cream arena. Secondly the wider plant-based movement needs indulgent disruptors like Over the Moo to help strip away historically ‘dowdy’ preconceptions’.”
