British sweet manufacturer Swizzels has revealed its newest sweet creation invented by a consumer, launching into stores next year.
To mark 90 years in business, Swizzels launched its Sweetest Invention competition earlier this year. Great British Dessert Chews was one of four finalists in the competition and voted for by the public as the favourite sweet to go into production.
The winning invention is a mixed bag of individually wrapped chew bars inspired by British dessert flavours, such as sticky toffee pudding; apple pie & custard; and strawberry trifle.
Jeremy Dee, managing director of Swizzels, said: ‘‘The public has spoken, and we are thrilled they have chosen Great British Dessert Chews to be produced. It’s a creation that is completely unique in the sweet market and has already captured the nation’s attention.
‘‘The inspiration behind the entrants’ idea came from her experience working in restaurants, and the continued popularity of these classic British dessert flavours. This shows us that the product will stand the test of time with consumers. We plan to start production early next year, ready for sale later in 2019.’’
