Somerset Cidermaker Thatchers has developed and introduced recyclable cardboard packs for its cans of four ciders, eradicating the need for plastic ring carriers.

MD Martin Thatcher said: “This is a major step forward for us and we’re very pleased to say that we no longer have any plastic ring carriers on our packs of cider. We’re determined to be doing things the right way for the environment, and although we know there’s more to do, we are well on our way down this road of reducing our use of plastic.”

The fourth generation cidermaker is driving growth in the apple cider market, with +52.4% volume growth. Thatchers Gold is the no 2 best-selling apple cider in cans and Thatchers Haze is the no 1 cloudy cider by a significant margin ( IRI MAT volume 06.01.18).
