From January 2013 two finger Kit Kats will be certified as Fairtrade. An extra 800 million bars a year will now carry the Fairtrade mark and Nestlé will purchase an additional 5,300 tonnes of sustainable cocoa from Fairtrade farmer co-operatives on the Ivory Coast. Nestlé has pledged to invest £65 million over 10 years on plant science and sustainability initiatives to support small scale cocoa farmers around the world.
