Urban Eat is introducing two new seasonal specials for its sandwich range, to cater for post festive season demand.
Tapping into the trend for bold flavours [TUCO Global Food & Beverage Trends Report 2018], the new Chicken Katsu sku is made using southern fried chicken, chilli cabbage slaw and katsu curry & sweetcorn mayonnaise on white bread.
For those looking for a vegetarian option, the new Goat’s Cheese & Tomato sandwich features Goat’s cheese with tomato salsa, tomato mayonnaise, fresh tomato and salad leaves on tomato and olive oil bread.
The seasonal specials are designed to increase purchase frequency, with a fifth of shoppers stating that an increase in seasonal skus would encourage them to buy more food and drink to go [MCA Food to Go Market Report 2018].
Isla Owen, head of brand at brand owner Adelie Foods, said: “Our seasonal specials have proved a huge hit, becoming strong sellers when they are added to the URBAN eat collection. Our recent research has shown Chicken Katsu to be an on-trend flavour so we think it will make a great addition to our range and offer something different to the sandwich market.
“With the number of consumers looking for meat-free lunchtime options, we’ve added this goat’s cheese sandwich to kick start the new year and offer a different flavour combination post-Christmas.”
The new January seasonal specials are available to c-stores now, with an rrp of £2.79 each.
