Walkers is shaking up its Oven Baked crisps line-up with the introduction of two ‘with Veg’ variants, designed to help retailers capitalise on demand for healthier savoury snacks.
The flavours: beetroot & sweet chilli, and sweet potato & paprika, both feature a wheat and potato base and will be supported by TV advertising alongside the rest of the Oven Baked range.
The new creative will also feature an appearance from the Spice Girls in a continuation of the partnership between Walkers and the British girl group.
To reinforce the taste credentials its Oven Baked with Veg crisps, which contain 40% less fat than regular vegetable chips, Walkers is also extending its Taste Us. Love Us. money back guarantee across the whole range.
Helen Strachan, brand manager for Walkers at PepsiCo, said: “There are common misconceptions about vegetable chips but our innovation, although lower in fat, doesn’t compromise on taste. We are confident that the new range will be a success and are heavily supporting the launch with a new ad campaign with the Spice Girls, meaning it will be front of mind with shoppers therefore helping drive sales for retailers during a key period for the savoury snacks category.”
The Walkers Oven Baked with Veg crisps are available in single serve (35g / rrp 70p), multipacks (6 x 23g / rrp £1.80) and sharing bags (140g / rrp £1.99).
