Quqi Singh, store manager at Budgens Thames Ditton, says the summer rush on BBQ products has slowed but he’s still getting plenty of sales from healthy and fresh foods.

He says: ”In terms of new products in store, it’s all the protein bars and shakes that are really selling fast. We sell a lot of the Grenade bars and the Bounce Balls. We also have the Mars and Snickers Protein bars and plenty of others. 

“We have 10 or 15 lines of protein shakes now from Grenade, Boost and MaxiNutrition. People are always asking for new healthy products. The Eat Natural Bars are another popular range.

“The last couple of weeks its been a bit slow in terms of summer BBQ sales as the weather’s not been brilliant but I expect to get a rush of sales this weekend from those going back to school and parents buying food for lunchboxes.”

Star performer: ”The best category in our store is fresh food. We are in an area where people want high quality fresh food and so we aim to offer them almost everything they can get from a supermarket so they can do their full week’s shopping here.”
