A consultation to decide which picture warnings will appear on tobacco packs in the UK has been launched by the Department of Health.

The public and stakeholders are being asked to view the images at www.packwarnings.nhs.uk and vote on those they feel carry the most effective warning. Fourteen health messages will be conveyed through the images, with a choice of three pictures for each message.

The new picture warnings will appear on cigarette packets from autumn 2007 and other tobacco products in 2008.
