The writing was on the wall when Nisa did not renew its Distribution Contract with Bibby. Bibby has gone on and become the major contractor for Morrisons logistics. Bibby can also be regarded as one of the top Distribution and Warehousing operators in the UK.

The loss of a £700 million pound contract by the Board of Nisa - or half its business must be one of the biggest Board disasters in the Independent sector ever. The decision was in simple terms for political reasons and not sound commercial ones.

Time will tell whether a Debt ridden Nisa can survive in a market where an Independent Costcutter is offering its membership simple rules and greater profitability.
