Cooperation between police and store is certainly making the most of every scrap of evidence to crack and seriously reduce crime. When you call police they ask is there any CCTV covering the area. Police are experts at analysing and using CCTV footage to crack crime. It does not necessarily need to be footage from your own store, however any scrap of footage can help police build a picture and can often lead to arrests. Criminals may hide their identity from cameras in one store but their clothing and characteristics cannot be hidden. The criminal thinks more the smaller picture and may be in another store earlier or later thee same trading day and be seen and recognized on another camera or system elsewhere.

It is therefore very important to check the accuracy of colour captured by your CCTV system. A good engineer will set up monitors with a colour calibration system, and there are plenty of good engineers around. An annual colour calibration is just another measure that can be done to ensure the maximum benefit from your system.

A final work about the role of CCTV in reducing shop crime: CCTV is primarily a deterrent, but it does not guarantee that criminals will not target your store so staff vigilance is paramount. Best of luck in your trading and m,ay we all continue to cooperate to reduce shop crime we all have an active part to play.
