Roadchef has announced an agreement to introduce Spar stores at its motorway service stations.
Two test stores will be launched at Strensham on the M5 and Northampton on the M1, with the former store opening at the beginning of July.
If the trial is successful, Spar will be introduced to its major roadside locations within the next few years.
Debbie Robinson, managing director of Spar UK, said: “I am delighted with the opportunity to work with Roadchef and bring a fresh approach to motorway food retailing, with our exciting Spar convenience offer.
“We are looking forward to showcasing our latest store concept on these two sites, which will include a bakery and our new Daily Deli foodservice offering; and to appealing to customers with our award-winning Spar brand range.”
Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef said: “We spent a great deal of time analysing a wide range of options available to us in the marketplace to best match what our customers have told us they require from a grocery store on the motorway.
We chose the Spar brand due to their industry-leading store design and presentation together with the strength of their distribution platform which gives us access to a huge range of products at great value prices.”
