Sainsbury's has appointed Mike Attwood as head of trading for convenience.
Attwood has been with the multiple since 1975 and replaces Richard Lancaster, who is leaving to become UK managing director of discounter Netto.
Attwood will be responsible for range, pricing and promotions for Sainsbury's 325-strong convenience store estate including Sainsbury's Local, Bells and Jacksons stores.
He said that convenience remained an enormous opportunity for Sainsbury's, adding: "I'm really excited to be part of a dynamic team which is determined to make Sainsbury's convenience world class."
Attwood originally joined the supermarket group as a produce student at its store in Chingford, Essex, before making the move to head office in 1979.
