Four new Co-op convenience stores launched at the end of last week, spanning three Co-op operated sites and a franchise store previously reported on this website, which forms part of the agreement between Co-op and the petrol forecourt business, EG On The Move.
The convenience stores are located near Plaistow Station – a 2,900 sq ft store in a residential development, Hampton Gardens – a 2,700 sq ft store in a residential area of Peterborough and a 2,600 sq ft store on the Chorley Road between Bamber Bridge and Walton le Dale. Plus, as previously reported, the second of seven stores to open as part of the new franchise agreement between Co-op and EG On The Move launched in Billingshurst, Sussex, at a new site known as Platts Corner Services.
Speaking at the launch of the new Co-op in Plaistow, East London, Imran Junoob, store manager, said: “We’re enjoying welcoming our community into its new Co-op – we’ve had a great response. Our aim is to operate at the heart of local life, and we’ve worked to develop the range, choice and added services to create a compelling offer to serve our community.”
Earlier this year Co-op announced ambitions to grow its membership to eight million by 2030.
