Lincolnshire Co-op’s Wygate Park Food Store in Spalding has reopened following a major redevelopment. Transformation work has led to the introduction of new services, increased accessibility of recycling and community initiatives, more shelf space, improved sustainability and a fresh look.

New products and services are available as well, including a Tango Ice Blast machine, ready meals from Kumar’s Curry Club and a dedicated gifting range which includes items from local suppliers such as Grantham-based Glorious Chocolate, Lincoln Tea & Coffee and more.

Wygate Park is the first Lincolnshire Co-op to have a community stand fitted, allowing customers to donate to their local food bank and recycle soft plastics and batteries in one place. The stand also has a community noticeboard, where local groups can display posters.

Additional sustainability solutions have also been incorporated, including CO2 refrigeration, upgraded LED lighting and insulated door curtains in warehouse refrigeration rooms, while energy-saving fridge doors and sustainable signage continues to be in place.

Gavin Glover, store manager, said: “We’re pleased to be offering our community an even better shopping experience in a modern environment, with more products and services available and dedicated space for recycling initiatives and community messages. It’s been fantastic to have so many people come and visit us for our reopening, and the feedback we’ve received so far has been really positive.”
