Subway has opened its 40,000th international location at an AppleGreen petrol station in Ipswich, Suffolk.
The chain, which is set to celebrate its 48th anniversary in business later this year, has opened 1,761 sites around the world since the start of 2013.
The chain also recently opened its third co-branded Spar and Subway store in Newport, South Wales, as part of its relationship with Blakemore Retail.
Trevor Haynes, Subway area development manager for the UK and Ireland, explained the success of the brand. “It is the low start-up costs, flexibility, and simple footprint that makes a Subway franchise so appealing to entrepreneurs who look to our brand as a way to reach their goal of owning and operating their own business,” he said. “That is what makes this work. We are thrilled to have this milestone opening in our market.”
