In a first for the National Lottery, operator Allwyn has partnered with online home delivery platform provider, Snappy Shopper, to enable independent National Lottery retailers to sell scratchcards online.
Following a successful trial, Allwyn is now making the scratchcard home delivery offering available to all eligible National Lottery retailers. With this completely new way to sell scratchcards, stores can boost National Lottery sales and associated commission – with customers able to conveniently add scratchcards to their wider online shop on the Snappy Shopper platform and receive them directly to their door from their chosen local retailer.
To be eligible, a National Lottery retailer must be signed up to sell groceries on the Snappy Shopper platform. The store must also use its own staff members (as opposed to third-party drivers) for home deliveries, as well as be up to date with the necessary safeguarding training on the National Lottery Retailer Training Centre. National Lottery retailers will already have received an email about how they can sell scratchcards online with Snappy Shopper.
Allwyn’s director of retail, Alex Green, said: “We’re delighted that independent National Lottery retailers now have the ability to sell scratchcards online as we know this is something our they’ve been asking for. It offers their customers even greater convenience and provides another way for them to increase their National Lottery sales.”
Natalie Lightfoot, of trial store Londis Solo Convenience in Baillieston, Glasgow, said: “Since introducing scratchcards through Snappy Shopper we’ve received a positive response from customers, providing them with an additional reason to place orders. Notably, three of our scratchcards have ranked among the top 100 products sold through Snappy Shopper in the past three weeks.”
Snappy Shopper CEO, Mike Callachan, concluded: “This initiative not only provides a new and convenient way for customers to purchase scratchcards, but also supports local businesses by enhancing their online offerings and driving additional revenue streams.”
