In figures just released by Tesco in its interim report for the year, Booker has shown growth across retail following a strong performance last year.

Sales totalled £1,657m, with core retail sales increasing by 0.6% year-on-year, driven by a further 397 new retail partners for symbol brands Premier, Londis, Budgens and Family Shopper. It warned however that the independent convenience sector was seeing some trading softness, with some customers switching to larger store formats.

In contrast, Booker’s symbol brands performed strongly, with sales up 3.1% supported by a ‘further improvement in availability’. Core catering sales increased by 1.7%, primarily driven by stronger volumes, as customers responded well to an extension of the Everyday Low Prices campaign, with prices locked on over 700 products until January 2025.

Meanwhile, customer satisfaction levels remained high at around 86%, and availability improved even further to approximately 98% in the first half of the year.
