Central Co-op opens new store fitted with solar panels

Central Co-op has opened its first store with solar panels already included.

Located in Streethay, Staffordshire, the site is Central Co-op’s first new store of the year and has created 15 new jobs.

As well as the solar panels, the store will also feature a bike repair station for cyclists to come in and use, along with electric vehicle charging points, and free water refills in the store. The sustainability features are part of Central Co-op’s purpose of creating a sustainable Society for all.

The store’s opening was celebrated by Streethay Primary School and Lichfield Food Bank, with the store set to receive a mural decorated by Streethay Primary School students.
