Scottish Spar retailer and distributor CJ Lang is set to sell eight stores and open three additional sites over the next 12 months.
The decision follows a strategic review of its company-owned stores to shape the estate and enable further growth.
Over the next year, three new greenfield sites will be added to the estate, offering a “modern convenience format”.
However, the group said that a small number of stores did not fit CJ Lang’s future operating formats. It will seek buyers for the stores, either individually or as a portfolio of stores.
“These stores represent an ideal opportunity for independent retailers to be part of the Spar Scotland family, albeit this is not a primary requirement,” it said.
Once the eight stores have been sold, CJ Lang’s estate will number 108 Spar stores.
