Edinburgh Police are investigating after CCTV appeared to show the moment a man dressed in black held up a convenience store - using a pole.

The alleged incident took place on the evening of Friday January 10, with footage from the Londis store incident circulating online since. In a clip, shared on Facebook, a man can be seen entering the Easter Road shop with a pole shaped object in his hand. The shop is shown in disarray as the man moves towards the counter brandishing the pole.

In response, the staff member opens the till and hands the robber what is presumably a bundle of cash. Fortunately there were no reports of injuries.

Offiicers have confirmed they are investigating the incident after they received a report of a robbery at the convenience store at around a few hours after the crime.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing into a robbery at a convenience store on Easter Road, Edinburgh on Friday, 10 January 2025.

Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact the force here.
