McColl’s has announced the trial of the Morrisons Daily fascia at 10 of its stores in the North West.
The trial, which is set to begin in April, will also see the 10 stores sell Morrisons own-label products.
A McColl’s spokesperson said: “We regularly trial new initiatives as we strive to continually improve our customer experience and enhance our neighbourhood convenience offer.”
McColl’s signed a deal with Morrison’s for the supermarket chain to supply its 1,300 convenience stores in January 2018. Morrisons also supplies the Safeway range exclusively to the group.
In December, the group issued a profit warning after announcing that its annual like-for-like sales had fallen by 1.4% as the c-store chain continued to navigate its way through the “significant supply chain disruption” caused by the collapse of Palmer & Harvey, which had previously supplied about 700 McColl’s stores.
Last week McColl’s announced an 8.1% increase in total revenue in the year ending 25 November 2018, but further supply chain disruption was blamed for a drop in pre-tax profit to £7.9m.
