New technology has just been launched that can link the inventory of convenience stores directly with delivery platforms.

NearSt’s technology means retailers can connect with platforms including Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat, in a move it is hoped will better enable them to compete with ecommerce and national chains.

The solution connects directly with existing EPOS systems, ensuring a store’s full in-store product range is displayed live on delivery apps. This leads to increased revenue and a lower number of failed orders, as well as saving time.

Recent research from Mintel shows 59% of UK consumers are now grocery shopping online, so offering reliable last-mile delivery has become a competitive necessity for convenience stores.

“This technology represents an important step forward for convenience retail,” says Nick Brackenbury (above left), co-founder and CEO. “We’re empowering local retailers with capabilities that were previously out of reach. With our extensive network of over 150 POS partners alongside our last-mile delivery integrations, we enable retailers to seamlessly transform their offering into a genuine competitive advantage and revenue driver.”

The Pricewatch Group was the first retailer to use the real-time local inventory feeds with delivery platforms, since September 2024. Since, It reports it has seen significant results in streamlining operations, enhancing customer experiences and improving staff productivity, with a 913% sales growth across last mile platforms in the first 11 weeks – including a 233% increase in Just Eat sales alone.
