A Nisa retailer in Stevenage has donated £730 to Symonds Green Community Centre as part of a recent store launch event. Bill Dhesi purchased the Hertfordshire store in December 2023 after recognising the potential for a modern revitalisation.
To celebrate the opening of the store, a community raffle took place offering customers the opportunity to walk away with multiple hampers and other prizes. £730 was raised, which has been donated through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity to Symonds Green Community Centre.
The centre offers a wide and diverse range of activities including dance classes, parent and toddler groups and martial arts. It holds social events for the surrounding community on a regular basis and is also the home to The Learning Zone Nursery.
Upon buying the store, Bill realised that the interior was in need of an update in order to effectively showcase its product offering and draw local residents to the store. It has since been updated with a Nisa Local fascia as well as a modern interior and store layout.
Bill Dhesi, a multi-site independent retailer, said: “I’m really proud to make this donation in Stevenage through MADL and I can’t wait to support future community projects in the local area. The Symonds Green Community Centre does a superb job so I know this money raised will be going to support those who really need it.”
