The Proudfoot Group, Pricewatch and H & Jodies have been named Making a Difference Locally (MADL) Champions of the Year for 2023 at Nisa’s recent awards evening.
Scarborough-based The Proudfoot Group and Pricewatch, which has stores in Sussex, were jointly awarded the large store accolade having collectively donated over £220,000 to their local communities.
Constantly looking out for new ways to support the causes their customers care about, both stores have in-store fundraisers, together with being actively engaged with MADL, and acting as outstanding ambassadors for the charity.
H&Jodies of Walsall in the West Midlands took home the small store award for having community at the store’s heart. The store actively supports MADL and as a business working with suppliers, nothing is too much for their community, with over £30,000 donated through MADL since they joined Nisa.
Each winner was allocated an additional £2,500 prize money towards their MADL funds for community projects.
Highly commended runners-up TYS Retail Limited and Gwilliams of Edington also received £1,000 for their store’s MADL fund whilst third placed Nisa Smithy Green added £500 for their fund.
Kate Carroll, head of charity at Nisa, said: “Huge congratulations to The Proudfoot Group, Pricewatch and H & Jodies for the exceptional work they do in their communities, and I couldn’t have been prouder to present those awards to such deserving retailers. They really are perfect examples of how to engage with MADL for the benefit of their shoppers and community.”
Valerie Aston, director at The Proudfoot Group, added: “This year was particularly special for Proudfoots having been awarded MADL Champion of the Year and I would recommend for all retailers to work as closely as possible with the MADL team for the benefit of the communities they serve.”
Andre Salvidge, charity ambassador for Pricewatch, said: “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to Nisa’s MADL team for the incredible opportunity and support they’ve provided to us as independent retailers, enabling us to give back to our community. Winning the title of Charity Champion of the Year 2023, alongside Proudfoot and receiving the £2,500 prize for our chosen charity has been an absolute delight. This generous fund will significantly bolster our efforts to make a positive impact. Our chosen beneficiaries, Pass It on Community Fridge, Hailsham Boxing Club, and Wholesome Warehouse, will benefit greatly from this contribution. Thank you for making this possible.”
