High-profile convenience retailer Ramesh Shingadia has reopened his Londis store in Southwater, West Sussex, under the Budgens fascia.
The new-look store was unveiled to shoppers on August 11 after 27 years of trading under the Londis symbol.
Ramesh, alongside his wife Nim and two sons Alpesh and Amish, also owns Londis Caterways in the nearby town of Horsham.
The Shingadia family have been in retail for more than 35 years and the updated Southwater site is designed to appeal to shoppers in the local community.
Ramesh said: “Our initial reaction to the changeover is that we’re very excited to be running the store as a Budgens. We originally looked at the idea of changing the store four years ago but we felt the opportunity was right for us to make the changes now to suit the demographics in the area.
”The changes to the store aren’t simply cosmetic as we have totally redesigned the shop floor to allow for the new Budgens range. Alpesh will very much be in charge of the day-to-day running of the store while Amish will run our Caterways store which will contiue to trade under Londis.”
Customers who visited the Shingadia’s Southwater store for the relaunch earlier were treated to a glass of wine and a bite to eat to help celebrate the reopening of the site.
