Independent retailer Chaz Chahal has opened his second Simply Fresh store in the Worcestershire village of Drakes Broughton.
Chaz said he hoped the 1,500 sq ft store would become a real hub for the local community, featuring indoor seating and hot and cold food and drinks to eat in or go.
The former Spar store also features a new modern Post Office counter and large off-licence.
“Unlike our other Simply Fresh store in Inkberrow, the new store in Drakes Broughton will receive very little passing trade meaning we have to range and run it quite differently,” Chaz said.
“The basket spend has to be credible so the range will feature lots of special offers and availability on fresh produce will be key.
“There will also be a good range of niche products to add interest.”
He added: “We only just opened on Monday and there is still some work to be done but so far initial reactions from customers have been really positive.
“There will of course be tweaks to the range along the way and the proof will be in the sales.”
Chaz’s Simply Fresh store in Inkberrow was named Best Small Store in the 2017 Convenience Retail Awards. His Costcutter Bromsgrove store won the same award in 2015.
