The Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) has confirmed that a new food-to-go grant programme is now available to independent retailers.

The £250,000 scheme, provided by the Scottish Government, aims to encourage more convenience store retailers in Scotland to innovate and respond to changing customer demands through the development of a food-to-go offering.

Grants will be awarded to retailers who install a new food-to-go station on a 50% match-funding basis and capped at £7,500. The programme will be managed by the SGF.

SGF chief executive Pete Cheema said: “I would strongly urge retailers to get involved. This grant programme will ensure that retailers can respond to the changing needs and expectations of customers by providing a high quality food-to-go offering with a strong focus on healthy eating options. These new food-to-go stations will help retailers remain competitive, increase footfall and generate a new income stream.”

Scottish retailers have until April 30 to apply for the new food-to-go grant. For more information, visit the SGF website.
