Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store in Leeds.
The incident took place at 7.38am on Tuesday (May 22). Police were called to Armley Convenience Store, in Town Street, Leeds where two masked men entered the store and threatened staff.
One man was armed with a baseball bat and struck a male member of staff repeatedly with the instrument. The two men then stole the store till and left the scene on bikes.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and was later released. Two men, aged 20 and 24, have been arrested following the incident and are now in custody.
Detective Inspector James Entwistle, of Leeds District CID, said: “This was obviously a frightening experience for the staff at the shop. Officers were quickly on the scene and two suspects have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
“We are carrying out enquiries into the incident and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any part of it or who has any information that could assist the investigation.”
