Fifty community causes from across the UK are set to receive £1,000 donations from Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity as part of the launch of the sixth round of the Heart of the Community Awards.
The £50,000 donation fund is aimed at supporting ‘winter warmers’ such as homeless shelters and warm hubs.
Each year, Nisa retailers nominate local causes that they believe could benefit from a donation. The 50 winning causes are then selected by a panel of judges. To date over £600,000 has been donated through the initiative.
This year, the Heart of the Community is focusing on winter warmers. The selected causes will use the donations to provide essential items such as food, clothing, blankets, warm hubs, and more to people who are homeless, vulnerable or in need.
“We are delighted to launch the sixth round of Heart of the Community,” said Kate Carroll, head of charity at Nisa. “This initiative is a great way for Nisa retailers to give back to their local communities and help those in need during the winter months.”
The winning causes will be announced in November 2023 and will also receive a ticket to Fundraising on the Margins, an afternoon session where hundreds of fundraisers from across the UK will come together to be upskilled, network, share experiences and be empowered to achieve more for their causes.
