Salford One Stop store installs defibrillator

One Stop on Grecian Street in Salford has installed a life-saving defibrillator outside the store.

Organised by franchisee Priyesh Ramji Vekaria, who worked for 10 years as a police officer, the defibrillator has been a long-term goal for the retailer.

“For a long time, adding a defibrillator has been on my list of things to do,” said Priyesh. “I wanted to ensure that anyone in need could use it immediately, regardless of their familiarity with such devices. It’s a way of giving back to the community wholeheartedly and offering long-term support.”

The installation didn’t happen without challenges - Priyesh faced various obstacles, particularly the cost of a defibrillator.

To help with the process, he got in touch with Claire Axon from Minutes Matter – a charity who distribute defibrillators far and wide, making them accessible to all.

With their guidance, they identified the Heart Sign Samaritan Pad 360p Defibrillator as the ideal choice within Priyesh’s budget, and with the remaining money from the budget, Priyesh contributed £500 directly to Minutes Matter to support their mission. Looking ahead, Priyesh has plans to fund a kit to keep within his personal vehicle, ensuring he can offer emergency assistance.
