Last weekend saw online grocery delivery platform Snappy Shopper successfully host its first-ever retailer charity football match, raising an impressive £1,540 for charity GroceryAid.
The event at Starks Park in Kirkcaldy on 31 July featured two 11-a-side teams composed of Snappy Shopper employees and retailers from across Scotland, including representatives from Premier stores. Snappy’s red team claimed victory with a thrilling 6-4 win in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The match raised £770 through donations from players and spectators. Snappy Shopper then matched this, doubling the total funds raised to support GroceryAid, which offers vital services, including a confidential 24/7 helpline, access to qualified counsellors, and financial grants for those in need in the grocery industry.
Mike Callachan, Snappy Shopper CEO, said: “We were thrilled to bring together our local retailers and communities for this incredible charity football match. Supporting Grocery Aid is something we’re deeply passionate about, as they provide crucial support to our industry. Hosting this match was not only a fun way to connect with our partners but also a powerful opportunity to give back.”
